What was once a school for Greenwich Hospital, is now a sought-after wedding venue and hotel in the heart of Greenwich. Devonport House rests elegantly at the foot of Greenwich Park, and a stone’s throw from the River Thames. The Georgian mansion was built in the early 18th century with picturesque red brick walls and soaring white columns.
Like most of the era’s architecture, Devonport House is pleasingly symmetrical and well proportioned. The impressive façade complements a generous stretch of manicured lawns, where many couples opt to host pre-dinner drinks receptions or casual barbecues on warm summer evenings. The charming wedding venue is a welcoming oasis of calm located only minutes from the buzz of London’s city centre, making Devonport House a popular wedding venue choice for nature loving couples.
Nelson & Hamilton Suite
With original Georgian windows overlooking the picturesque grounds, the Nelson & Hamilton Suite is the perfect ceremony or wedding dinner room. The windows make the space light and airy, and a neutral creamy palette is easy to pair with any wedding theme.
Churchill Suite
The Churchill Suite is a cosy and intimate oak panelled room with large windows and maritime décor on the walls. With views of the green gardens and a private outdoor section, the classic vintage suite is a lovely choice for a ceremony with close family and friends.
Drake Suite
A medium and well-proportioned room decorated in regal tones of mustard and royal blue. The Drake Suite, like all rooms at Devonport House, benefits from tall windows and lots of natural light, making the rich décor all the more vibrant.
Westminster Suite
Equal in size to the pretty and wedding suited Nelson & Hamilton Suite, the Westminster Suite is a modern addition to Devonport House. With built in AV equipment and high ceilings, the suite is perfect for drinks and dancing after the wedding dinner.

Book TodayGreenwich is a unique area being so close to central London yet so removed from the noise and bustle that a city brings. When visiting Greenwich, you feel as though you have stumbled into a charming British village filled with heavenly smelling corner cafes and daily craft and fresh produce markets. Greenwich is essentially built around the River Thames, with the main maritime attractions, such as the Cutty Sark, and outing-worthy areas all sprinkled along the river’s banks, allowing for lots of time spent gazing over the sparkling water at the towering skyline of Canary Wharf. Greenwich Park is a peaceful retreat where one can take an energising walk up the hill to the Royal Observatory to view the Greenwich Meridian or look out on a spectacular view of London’s skyline. Only minutes from Devonport House, one can access the Cutty Sark DLR Tube Station (0.2 miles) within a 5-minute walk and Greenwich Train Station (0.4 miles) within 8 minutes.
Greenwich is a culturally rich area and offers a large variety of places of worship and churches for wedding ceremonies. Although all four rooms at Devonport House are licenced for wedding ceremonies, couples occasionally opt to marry at a separate venue and then continue the wedding celebrations at the hotel.
